Municipal water treatment facilities face the challenge of removing a broad spectrum of contaminants from surface water (rivers, lakes, reservoirs) and groundwater sources.
The high purity of our carbons ensures no secondary contamination, protecting sensitive membrane systems used in subsequent treatment stages. We also provide custom-designed solutions to meet specific municipal treatment requirements.
Activated carbon filtration is widely used for drinking water purification. AXICARB supplies a broad spectrum of products tailored for high adsorption capacity and rapid kinetics. Our carbons provide optimal pore structures for maximum exposure to adsorption sites, with special surface‑modified grades targeting chlorines, chloramines, sulfur compounds, MIB/geosmin, undesired colors, endocrine‑disrupting compounds, and other micropollutants.
Our standard and specialty grades feature low dechlorination half‑values, excellent flow characteristics, consistent particle sizes to control pressure drop, and high mechanical strength for trouble‑free operation.

Chloramine (used for drinking water disinfection) affects taste and odor and is difficult to remove at point of use. AXICARB offers catalytic activated carbons with very high reaction kinetics and abundant catalytic sites to react with and remove different types of chloramines, including monochloramine. Grades are customizable for pressure drop/particle size to fit existing systems. High efficiency and consistent performance extend carbon bed life while reducing contact time and equipment size.
Extensive agricultural use of organic and inorganic compounds can lead to highly polluted soil water. As remediation, AXICARB activated carbons can be deployed as stand‑alone units or within multi‑stage systems. Our carbons reduce TOC (Total Organic Carbon), TOX (Total Organic Halides), VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds), and DOC (Dissolved Organic Compounds), delivering consistently high adsorption capacity, fast kinetics, and long working life.
